If his story is true he joins the likes of country singer Willie Nelson, who famously lit up a joint at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue during the presidency of Jimmy Carter. He knows people in high places: Rapper Snoop Dogg admits he lit up a joint in a White House bathroom Confession: Taking a big puff on a joint, the rapper told his story to comedian Jimmy Kimmel (left) And of course he ranks with the President himself - who has probably never lit up in the executive mansion, but was a heavy smoker as a young man. When asked about his habit in 2006, Barack Obama famously replied: 'I inhaled frequently. That was the point.' The confession was made on Snoop Dogg's GGN ('Double G News Network') Youtube show during an appearance by comedian and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.Kimmel asked him: 'Have you ever smoked at the White House?'Snoop replied: 'In the bathroom, not in the White house but in the bathroom. It's got history: Willie Nelson famously lit up a joint in the executive mansion during the term of Jimmy Carter
Puff: Barack Obama (left in 1979) smoked heavily when he was younger and when asked whether he had inhaled in 2006, he famously replied: 'That was the point'. Snoop visited the White House in December (right) 'I said "May I use the bathroom for a second?". And they said "What are you going to do, a number one or number two?". I said number two.'Kimmel laughed and asked: 'Who said this, the First Lady?'Snoop replied: 'Nah, the CIA. The alphabet boys.'So I said look, when I do a number two I usually have a cigarette or light something to get the aroma right.'And they said "You know what, you can light a piece of napkin" and I said "I'll do that".'Taking an enormous puff on a marijuana joint, Snoop added: 'And the napkin was this'.The 42-year-old rapper, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, was at the White House in December for the Kennedy Center Honors. He attended in a smart bow tie with other members of the music world to pay tribute to legends Billy Joel, Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, opera star Martina Arroyo and actress
Risky: The rapper (right) told Jimmy Kimmel he had managed to evade agents from the CIA or the FBI Smoker: Snoop Dogg is famous for his music - but also for his self-confessed, widely publicised cannabis use President Obama recently told the New Yorker magazine marijuana was no more harmful than alcohol. He was speaking as the debate continues over the decriminalisation - and even full legalisation - of the drug in certain states, spinning off a range of products from cannabis massage oils to cannabis coffee.'As has been well documented, I smoked pot as a kid,' he said. 'And I view it as a bad habit and a vice, not very different from the cigarettes that I smoked as a young person up through a big chunk of my adult life.'He added poorer sections of society including African Americans and Latinos were punished harsher for the same use than the middle classes. Snoop's claim remains sadly unsubstantiated.Smoke from the Pioneer Fire, burning eight miles north of town, looms in the distance behind Idaho City.
The Pioneer Fire, currently Idaho's largest, doubled in size Tuesday and has burned more than 9,400 acres in the forest eight miles north and east of Idaho City, and is just 33 percent contained Wednesday. Fire crews say 10 structures are threatened, and 35 people have been evacuated. A section of Highway 21 is also closed north of Idaho City between mile marker 48 and mile marker 72.5, south of Lowman. Business owners in Idaho City tell KBOI 2News there has been confusion about that road closure and access to Idaho City from the Treasure Valley. As a result, they say business is suffering. But they want everyone to know they're still open for business. "Not many people know that the fire is actually past Idaho City," said Claire Opperman, who works at The Springs, a popular hot springs destination in Idaho City. In the summer, The Springs chills the pool, but Opperman says business has cooled off since the fire started. She says that's in part due to smoke and air quality, and in part due to confusion about the road closure.
In turn, the town has turned into the Pioneer fire's base camp. "The road closure has really hurt," said Sarsaparilla Ice Cream Parlor owner Becky Gilbert. "I think about the only people I've seen are the fire crews."For Sarsaparilla Ice Cream Parlor, their presence in the town is a reminder of dark days that hit the town last summer, when five businesses on the boardwalk burned to the ground. "Sometimes I feel like we have really bad luck up here," Gilbert said.Business owners say since the Pioneer fire started, things have taken a similar turn for the worse, and that the road closure has only intensified the effects. Trudy Jackson, who owns Trudy's kitchen, tells KBOI 2News that summers are usually booming with business. "It's quiet," Jackson said. "There's nobody in here and Wednesday is our busiest workday. In a town that relies on tourism, business owners say they're having to make adjustments."We've had to have people not come in as soon as their shift was supposed to start, have people leave early, or have people even not come in at all," Gilbert said.
