The president of the National Education Association says Donald Trump has emboldened schoolyard bullies, which is a pretty ironic thing for a union boss to say. One organization is deeply troubled by the weird reports of scary clowns everywhere: Clown College. (Note: the college does not confer degrees.) James Madison University's speech guide recommends against accusing people of being too politically correct. The MotorScribes List: Suzuki’s new Baleno Posted on Oct 3, 2015 The Baleno made its global debut at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and a number of spy pictures of the car have been doing the rounds here in India as well. Having said that, we never doubted the Baleno’s Indian debut for even a second and we also know that it is the next product to get plugged into the whole Nexa strategy that MSIL kicked off when they launched the S-Cross.
The good news is that the Baleno’s debut is now just around the corner and MSIL is expected to make a formal announcement in the third week of October (I’ll sneak it in here that we at MotorScribes will be driving it before its launch and will have a review ready for you post that). As far as our expectations from the Baleno are concerned, we’ve drawn up a list of some of the key highlights, a few possibilities as well as stuff that we hope for. The New Baleno: What we know The new Baleno is based on a whole new platform that promises increased rigidity, yet weighs lighter which in turn has a positive effect on the vehicle’s fuel efficiency, handling and stability. Fitted with high intensity discharge projector headlamps, the Baleno also gets LED position lamps as well as LED rear combination lamps. It measures 3995mm in length thereby complying with one key element of being defined as a small car in India. It is 1470mm tall and measures 1745mm in width.
The Baleno also boasts of a 2520mm wheelbase and the international version has a ground clearance of 120mm (definitely set to change for India!) The car will be offered with a choice of either 16 inch alloys or 15 inch steel wheels. The equipment list includes a host of connectivity options that sync with your phone. The car also gets and LCD display in the instrument cluster in order to display all the vital information through user-friendly graphics (It also displays the driving G-force in real time!) The Baleno gets a 1.0 litre Boosterjet engine and a 1.2 litre Dualjet engine internationally, however the Indian spec version will not get these engines. What we’ve come to learn is that the Baleno will share the same engines that are on offer in the Swift, namely the 1.3 litre DDiS unit as well as the 1.2 litre petrol unit. The Baleno will be available with a five speed manual gearbox as well as a CVT. SHVS will be offered on the diesel variant of the Baleno
The new Baleno will be sold exclusively through Nexa outlets. The New Baleno: What might also make it The top of the line Baleno is offered with six airbags and we hope that MSIL does the same here. Suzuki has fitted the Baleno with a device they call Radar Brake Support. Essentially the car uses a radar signal to monitor vehicles in front of it and in the event that a vehicle in front slows down or comes to a halt, this device alerts the driver, increases the brake force and automatically applies the brakes. It would be a boon to have this in the Indian spec version as well Adaptive cruise control could also be a part of the package The New Baleno: What we want Considering the fact that the Baleno will be sold through Nexa dealerships, it is automatically segmented as a premium offering from MSIL. In doing so, the company shouldn’t just offer it with the same engines as the Swift and ought to consider both the 1.0 Boosterjet as well as the 1.6 litre DDiS (which does duty in the S-Cross).
