Not so fast there, music fan. Before you pack your bag, you’ll want to take a look at the list of more than 40 items that are not allowed at Spring Awakening Music Festival 2015.

So, what can’t you bring? If you were planning to use a GoPro to capture every moment, then you’ll want to rethink that idea. GoPros, as well as professional cameras and audio/video recording equipment, are prohibited at the festival.

However, it’s worth noting empty CamelBaks are allowed at Spring Awakening. Weapons of any kind are not allowed at Spring Awakening, either. Were you planning to camp and dine on your own food right on the festival grounds? You’ll need to scrap those plans, as coolers, lawn chairs and tents are not allowed. Finally, festival organizers also included “bad attitudes” among the items prohibited at Spring Awakening. For the full list of items prohibited at Spring Awakening, check out the festival’s website. As noted on the festival’s website, “Everyone entering the festival grounds will be searched upon entry,” and purses and backpacks will be examined. Spring Awakening will be held June 12-14 at Soldier Field (1410 S. Museum Campus Dr., Chicago). The three-day electronic music festival includes performances by Zedd, Diplo, Jamie Jones, Bro Safari and The Floozies. Festival-goers must be 18 years of age and up, and the VIP section is for ages 21 and up. Keep it here on AXS for more information regarding Spring Awakening.

Be the first to know. Shawn Mendes has exploded onto the scene, a 16-year-old singer from Canada who has suddenly become one of the hottest stars in the pop music industry. He rose to fame thanks to the social media age, posting him covering songs by other artists before he caught the attention of record labels. He now has his first debut album hitting number one in the United States and is setting out on a concert tour opening for none other than Taylor Swift. With so much popularity at such a young age, here are five things you might not know about Shawn Mendes. Mendes learned to play guitar through YouTube When watching Shawn Mendes perform, it is just a kid with his guitar, almost the antithesis of fellow Canadian Justin Bieber, who also reached success at a young age. However, he hasn’t always been a prodigy when it comes to singing and playing guitar. As a matter of fact, Mendes had only been playing guitar for less than a year when he started posting his original videos.

As a matter of fact, Mendes said that he learned to play guitar by watching YouTube instruction videos just three year ago. The first song that he learned to play was “Soul Sister” by Train. He hit it big thanks to the social network Vine To get his music out there for people to hear. Mendes went to the social sharing network Vine. It was here that he started creating short videos at 6.5 minutes or less. His first video uploaded was him singing Justin Bieber’s “As Long as You Love Me.” He had 10,000 likes in one day. Mendes now has 3.5 million followers on Vine. That is also where he was discovered as a popular success story by Island Records and signed to a deal. Ed Sheeran is his biggest influence While people like to compare Shawn Mendes to Justin Bieber, the two are pretty far apart. While Bieber is a showman with dance moves and a giant entourage, Mendes is just one guy and his guitar. That is why it makes a lot of sense when he was asked who his influences were, he quickly pointed to Ed Sheeran as his biggest influence.

The two share a similar style, and if Mendes comes close to Sheeran’s popularity, he could be a major star. He was a big success in Canada before catching on in the U.S. It shouldn’t come as any surprise, but Mendes caught on in his home country before he did in the U.S. He has three official singles, with “Life of the Party” and “Something Big” hitting ninth and 11th on the Canadian charts. Meanwhile, “Life of the Party” was the only top 40 hit in the U.S., peaking at 24th. HE also has six promotional singles, and four of them charted in Canada while only one did in the U.S. Despite this, he hit number one in the U.S. and Canada both for his debut album, Handwritten. Mendes is currently completing high school online Shawn Mendes is about to hit the road in support of Taylor Swift on her tour. He has also been out and headlined his own tour. However, the 16-year-old high school junior is not giving up on his education. Mendes said that he is working on completing school by taking his 11th grade classes online.
