Where is the best place to buy luggage? Re: What brand of luggage do you prefer? Briggs and Riley or TravelPro Try Rimowa -- perfect for the road warrior TJMaxx - they have lots of good luggage at deeply discounted prices. Back in 2009 I bought some luggage from Wal Mart. The brand name was Jeep. I am still using them today! They have been on many trips (road and plane) and they still look good. They only problem I have with luggage is that most companies use the color black. I will be using my two Jeep luggage, but for our upcoming trip I bought one purple and one burnt orange color. We shall see if this works better.Any suggestions on how to spot your luggage among the sea of black?

As for spotting your black bag -- My mom (a onetime Pan Am Stewardess) used to tie a bright pink bow to the handle. I have a glowing orange carabiner on mineI average about 130,000 airmiles annually and 125 night a year on the road. I check my luggage every flight to eliminate the hassle. This luggage handles the abuse and retails for about $79.00. So if you are not locked into brand image, this is a well built, inexpensive product. I replaced my original after 5 years of use. The new bag has nearly a 5000,000 miles on it and is still going strong. I have had good luck with Macy's and TJ Maxx with deals. The swiss army bags are awesome. Like majarfamily1994 mentioned earlier I usually go for an unusual color so it sticks out in baggage claim. There are definitely too many black bags out there! I also keep a picture of my luggage on my cell phone in the event that I have to file a lost luggage claim. I bought 2 different bags from Brookstones that came with a guarantee and had them replaced many, many times in the store.

Also bought one from Macy's that included a guarantee, but that guarantee required you to mail the bag back to the manufacture at your cost, and then they sent the replacement to the store and you had to go pick it up.Have some clever overnighters from the TV shopping stations that well organized [with drawers & hangers so you never unpack] and are very nice looking, but not too durable. Uusually the telescoping handle is first to go. Luckily they were cheap. My all time favorite is a big soft bag, I bought in the market place inVentimille, Italy for 20 Euros. I call it my mary popins bag cause it expands out to fit almost as much as I can get in my suitcase, or compresses down to look like a big purse. Its lasted for ever. Only problem is it goes over the sholder and can be heavy to carry when fully loaded. Since its soft I can smoosh it into any remaining overhead space, even the little onces on the commuter jets. Also have one of these. My brother swears by it, so we made a trip to Costco to get one.
