I use the water bottle pockets for a water bottle and an insulated coffee cup and this pack holds them securely. For air travel, I have attached two carabineers to the top handle, then attach another bag to them in order to hold my lunch, inflatable pillow and other items I wish to keep close while I stow this pack in the overhead compartment. Despite being loaded to the max, the straps have never failed and the zippers have only recently begun to fray. The bottom material has worn through and could have been repaired, but since an exact replacement was available, I thought it best just to retire my original.
