Students from Fordham Lincoln Center, NYU, Columbia, Pace, and many other Manhattan-based schools are located in one of the world’s most bustling cultural hubs, giving them access to countless events, restaurants, activities, and places to see/visit. Below are 15 must-do’s for Fordham College at Lincoln Center (FCLC), other New York City College Students, or city visitors!

Fordham Lincoln Center Students are lucky enough to be located right next to one of Manhattan’s most prominent arts facility: Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Not only is it the home of the Metropolitan Opera, the New York City Ballet, and the New York Philharmonic, but it is also home of Mercedes Benz fashion week. Every year in September (and again in the winter) New York Fashion Week sets up at Lincoln Center, and though getting tickets to shows might be difficult, there are volunteer opportunities, as well as the chance to hang around Lincoln Center to catch glimpses of celebrities, models, and New York’s most fashionable residents. Countless movies and TV shows depict happy ice skaters in Central Park and Rockefeller Center; however, ice-skating at Bryant Park is a lesser known but equally amazing NYC ice skating alternative. Admission to the ice rink at Bryant Park is free, though you have to pay $15 for ice skates if you don’t have your own. Not only are the views of the city skyscrapers from Bryant Park stunning, but you are allowed unlimited time on the rink, and when you get tired of skating you can check out the Bryant Park Winter Village Christmas Market for some unique gift finds and gourmet food.

Central Park is one of the cities most coveted areas, and if full of countless opportunities for fun, outdoor activities. One of the best of these activities is to rent bikes for a few hours, or a day, and just get lost riding around! Central Park is gorgeous in every season, and there are numerous nearby shops and sellers where you can rent bikes. Not only is it great exercise, but also renting bikes in Central Park allows you to see the majority of the massive park in a fun, memorable way. Though Madison Square Garden is NYC’s most popular concert venue, the annual Global Citizen Festival and Concert in Central Park’s Great Lawn  is definitely an event you don’t want to miss. Every summer, 60,000 people crowd onto the Great Lawn for the festival and concert seeing massive acts such as (last years lineup) Beyonce, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Pearl Jam. These artists resonate with and perform to boost Global Citizen’s mission to teach people about and take action on the world’s biggest challenges.

And the best part? Tickets to the event are free! You can’t go to New York City without getting a burger at least at one point in your trip. Midtown West and the Upper West Side—home to the Fordham Lincoln Center students—have access to so many amazing burger restaurants. Notable standouts are Shake Shack and Lucky Burger for days when you don’t have time for a full sit down meal (though the lines at Shake Shack can be long it is totally worth the wait!), and for days when you have more time head to PJ Clarks or Five Napkin Burger for an unforgettable burger. New York has countless historic landmarks—think the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, the Flatiron Building, Radio City Music Hall, etc.—however the Highline Park is a lesser known historic landmark worth checking out. Built on a historic freight rail line, Highline Park is a public area that is raised above the Manhattan streets and has plenty of spots to relax and take in some gorgeous city views.

Best Spot to Feed Your Sweet Tooth You don’t have to look far to find delicious desserts in New York City; every street is bound to bring you a different bakery or sweet shop. Max Brenner restaurant and chocolate shop extrodianare has to be one of the best places to fulfill your chocolate cravings. Known for their decadent chocolate desserts, a trip to Max Brenner will be delicious from when you walk into the restaurant with the strongest aroma of chocolate until you finish your last bite of one of their many famous desserts. You’re not a Fordham Lincoln Center Student if you don’t spend hours every semester at The Flame diner. Located just two blocks from the FCLC campus, not only is The Flame diner 24 hours, but also the menu has pretty much everything you can think of eating! It is the perfect spot for when you are craving a grilled cheese at 4 am or chocolate chip pancakes on a Sunday Morning. No matter what time of day or what you are craving, you can always count on The Flame.

And even better, FCLC students get a discount! New York City is known for its bustling nightlife and you are sure to find a great place to go if you walk a few blocks in any direction. However some notable nightclub standouts are PH-D rooftop lounge, which has incredible city views, as well as Marquee and 1OAK, both celebrity hotspots. All three are sure to give you an unforgettable night. The New York City subway is a glorious invention. Sometimes the hustle and bustle of city life can be a bit much, but thanks to the subway, in just about an hour you can be at Coney Island amusement park and the adjacent beach and boardwalk. Take the D train from Columbus Circle and head to Coney Island for a much needed beach day. Though the park is closed in the winter, the beach is still open for a relaxing albeit chilly getaway from the city. And you can’t leave Coney Island without one of Nathan’s Famous Hot-dogs (yes those are the ones they use in the annual hot-dog eating contest!)

One of the great things about NYC is that it is the backdrop for some of television’s most famous shows. Two favorites and most famous being Gossip Girl and Sex and the City. A wide variety of New York City tour companies offer Gossip Girl and Sex and the City themed tours that take you around to all of the famous spots and filming locations from the shows. So grab your girlfriends and live a day in the shoes of Blair Waldorf and/or Carrie Bradshaw. Head down to the meatpacking district to Chelsea Market, NYC’s world-renowned indoor food hall. With over 30 vendors, Chelsea Market is sure to have something to satisfy your cravings, from wine to coffee to homemade bread to cheesecake. You could spend hours divulging in Chelsea Markets delicious delicacies, while taking breaks to check out some of the Market’s clothing and goods vendors. Everyone has likely heard of Broadway, but there are different types of shows in New York City, where the tickets are absolutely free!

Late Night TV shows that tape in New York, think Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, are free. However they are somewhat difficult to get, but totally worth it! Usually standby tickets are available the day of tapings, but this requires waiting in some seriously long lines. I camped out over night to get free Saturday Night Live tickets, and enduring the cold for a night was worth the great memories and the unforgettable experience of being a part of a live audience! The Radio City Christmas Spectacular is and annual holiday show that will no doubt get you into the Christmas spirit. Take some pictures by the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, and then head over to Radio City Music Hall to watch the famous Rockette’s in a spectacular Christmas Showcase.   If their sparkly outfits and radiating cheery faces don’t get you in the Christmas Sprit, then Santa’s end of show appearance certainly will!
