However the location is in my opinion the best. Did this trail twice already. I've done this trail twice and each time expectations more than met. Rangers made the experience exceptional with attention to detail in explaining what was happening. Meals were beyond expectations given the location and distance from main camps. We did the Trail at the end of July 2016. We had Steve and Absolum as our guides, their knowledge of the bush was incredible. While we did not see much game up close on foot, we learned a lot about the landscapes, plants, nests and burrows - this gives you a whole new "safari" experience when compared to viewing... My husband and I had been looking forward to our walking trip in the Kruger for almost a year, and we were not disappointed!!

It is truly a wonderful bush experience. Accommodation is basic and comfortable and the food is equally basic as one would expect when you are in the middle of nowhere without another soul in sight.

Ove the years, we have had the pleasure of experiencing most of the wildernes trails in the Kruger National Park. In our opinion, the Olifants trail rates among the top three. The experience cannot easily be described in words. Imagine eyeballing an Elephant, or Rhino, while on foot! A gear check will commence prior to the beginning of the trail, where guides will assist you with packing your bag in such a way that it will feel comfortable and not as heavy. After you have set off you will be in the middle of nowhere, there are no camping facilities and you will be pitching a tent wherever you are after a day of hard work, while admiring the stunning scenery and wonderful wildlife of course. You are bound to learn a lot during this outdoor experience and it will probably leave you wanting more. A minimum of eight persons per trail is required.
