Both packs are good for day hiking but the Gregory can also be used overnight. The main difference is that the Gregory pack is going to hold double the capacity of the Osprey pack. Other than that, the Osprey is more adjustable, breathable and obviously lighter. So it depends on the variety of uses you need. (Bonus: the Gregory has a built in rain cover.) Will an IPhone 6 fit into the waist belt pockets? Here I am, just another day at the office trying to jam my phone into a pack pocket.
