First, it seems to me that one out of every 10 or so pictures I take is just a black screen when I look at it on the screen. Second, when I'm taking a lot of pictures, eventually the red access lamp will light up solid and I can't take any more pictures. The light stays on even after I turn the camera off. I have to pull the battery to stop it. Third, when I attach the telephoto lens that came with the package I purchased, I try to focus on something using live view shooting and if I take too long, the camera makes a clicking sound like its taking a picture and the screen goes black. f-stop gear backpack lokaI need to press the live view shooting button twice so the image reappears. tt2 backpackIt seems Best Buy does not have an area to ask questions so if anyone can shed some light on any of these issues I would certainly like some feed back. fatlace backpack
I shouldn't have to pay for Geek Squad plan just to get answers. Failed within 5 minutes of use I unboxed the camera today and got through 2 setup screens on the LCD when it stopped working. I called Canon Canada support and they walked me through troubleshooting... the result was that the camera was defective... I am returning it today and replacing it with the same unit... and getting the in-store insurance... I feel like a bit of a sucker doing that though... On other elements, I was surprised how light and 'cheap' the camera felt I my hands... light plastic... I purchased this as part of a kit (bag, battery, extra lens) and am very happy with the bag quality. I really like the 18mp! My previous camera had only 12. I like that the auto focus always works. I think I wore it out on my first one. My one complaint is that it doesn't have the A-dep setting that the other camera had. Of course, it may have it and I just haven't found it yet. I am still negotiating my way around in unfamiliar territory.
I recently purchased my first Canon DSLR online which was ordered and shipped on 29 December - arriving on the 31st. That's pretty darn good considering I live in a rural area. The picture quality (tone, colour, sharpness) using the 18-55mm lens whether in auto/manual focus modes are impressive to say the least. Hands down the best pictures I've ever taken. I'm sure cameras that are 2x, 3x times the price might have more features but for the life of me I can't imagine what they would be. The "touch" flip screen is a must and puts the T5i in a league above the T5. Changing settings is super quick. There are 10 menu lists with logically sorted sub-lists under them and one that you can customize with setting that you use most often - nice. With everything from the "mirror lockup" to creative in-camera filters; I find that I keep the fairly easy to use manual close at hand as I learn what the camera can do. I like the design of the figure grip and thumb rest which places the camera comfortably and securely in my hand with very little effort to hold it.
I'm thinking the camera would probably stay in my hand even while falling down a flight of stairs. I think Canon did a great job with the layout of buttons and dials. Things just seem to be where you'd expect to find them on the camera from the ISO to the delete button. It took almost no time to remember where the 20 or so buttons/dials were located on the camera with out really having to look for them. In automatic mode, this camera is as easy to use as a "point & shoot" with amazing quality pictures. I've tried to keep the camera in manual mode which makes it somewhat more tricky being newer to SLR photography. Thankfully I'm not paying to develop film and my 32g card can hold over 4000 pictures. I've taken almost 500 pictures in 16 days. If I knew someone looking at getting a DSLR, I would without hesitation, tell them to look at the Canon T5i. Dollar for dollar, I don't think you can beat it with even with slightly more expensive cameras. As I said in my review title - I'm impressed.
from Downtown Stittsvill - Ottawa, ON Simply the Best !! My experience with the Canon EOS Rebel cameras started about 5+ years ago with the Rebel XSi. This was a transition from a small point 'n shoot camera to my first DSLR. I just recently moved from a Rebel T2i to a Rebel T5i, the best Rebel yet, which was 'on sale' at Best Buy. It has all the features and refinements you will need to satisfy your DSLR picture or video shooting needs. Very easy to use, and simply the best EOS Rebel yet ! from saint hubert, QC a little heavy but still easy to use , has quick notes to explain the different functions to make sure you will take a great shot! Performs like a professional camera, but is so easy to use that you wont believe! very happy with my purchase. I've had Canon in the past and it feels a little cheaper each time there's a new release. Their direct competitor however feels the opposite. I had have this camera for work and it was bought for me otherwise I'd have paid the extra money for a more feature rich product.
