We had a ton of leaves drop in a 24 hour period and knew that our other blower was going to a long time to clean it all up. We had talked about backpack blowers before, but always went with the handheld instead. We decided to try one out and we were amazed at the difference. The only thing we didn't care for is that you must take it off to restart it. All the backpack are the same in that aspect, but it would be great to not have to do that.

The only other con is it takes a lot of space to store it. We take the two end tubes off when we are not using it. I clear 1.5 acres under 90' tall oaks, so there are lots of leaves, sticks, twigs, small branches, and acorns galore, plus about half of the ground being cleared is covered with oak ivy and myrtle.

This machine makes it easy and fun to blow leaves, even when the piles are 3 feet deep. I especially like the small features that Echo's designers put into making a better blower. The vent ribs in the back padding help a lot when the weather is warm. The cage all around the intake area prevents leaves from clogging up your intake port and overheating your engine. The tilt-adjustable hand grip should be worthy of some sort of ergonomics award as for the last 17 years I'd get forearm & wrist cramps after about an hour of use with my old machine. That has not happened to me once with the Echo, even after 4 straight hours of use. The extra wide straps are very comfortable no matter how long you're wearing the blower. I've run 6 gallons of fuel through this machine so far in the past week, using Echo fuel mix and 87 octane regular fuel. It starts cold on the second pull every time, and with a mere 1/4 pull when warm. It runs strong, clearing sidewalks and driveways at little more than an idle.
