Search this group's discussions As a true budget lense their is no lense cover included. I need a new bag to accommodate this lense with my 5diii. Any recommendations on what may be a good choice? 8:02PM, 2 February 2014 PST I've been looking for a bag for my 70-200 2.8 (attached), but with a mind to something that will take the Tamron when it comes out for Nikon. I've just gone for the Think Tank Holster 30 V2.0. Thanks for the above, I am looking for a backpack. I am not a big fan of the holster system as I like to carry more than one lens with me at most times. As a short term solution I really like your reco. and may pickup one cheap on ebay. the lowe pro flipside 300aw is worth a look. I'm interested in the holster style, too. The Lowepro Toploader Pro 75 is definitely too small for the Tamron, though just fine for the 70-200.
The TT Holster 30v2 *may* be a bit tight, though I'm hoping it does fit. Please kindly let us know how it turns out, thanks. A bit pricey but could Gura Gears new bag Uinta work? Would be interested to hear what you decide. I opted for the Lowepro Pro Runner 450. I had a couple of smaller bags and didnot want to buy a bag that was good for just this lense. Instead went for a larger bag that I can use to carry all my equipment from one location to another. The lense with the 5Diii attached is pretty heavy so the extra padding was an important factor. I use the Lowepro Pro Runner 350 AW. You can keep the lens attached to your camera inside the bag with only 1 or 2 inches to spare. There is plenty of room for other lenses and filters to take along as well. Need an iPad or Macbook Air.... no problem... it just fits. I am using TT street walker PRO. I use Lowepro Pro Runner 300. I choose it because I can have the camera house attached to the tamron 150-600 lens plus 4-5 lenses and a flash in the bag.
I have written about the bag here: wp.me/p2FVnw-9v with pictures of the camera house and the lens in the bag. I'm looking for a backpack with easy access to the camera with this lens mounted. But not the one you've to put on the ground and fully open it to take out the camera, but something with access from the top. They have two sizes, and I want the smallest that fits. Any hint on such this kind of bag? Originally posted 34 months ago. Pedro Fuentes VLC edited this topic 34 months ago. I've been looking at a style like the Lowepro Flipside 400AW as shown here; I'm not sure if the Tamron 150-600 will fit attached to a body but I'm hoping it will. My local camera store doesn't carry this model so I'd like to hear if someone has used this style with a long tele. edit: I missed the review link from mysan_32 above. The internal dimensions of this Flipside 400AW should be fine based on the size of the Pro Runner 300 rwells1961 edited this topic 34 months ago.
I have the Lowepro Flipside 400 AW Flipside. The centre section is approx 16inches / 406mm , and the Tamron 150-600mm should fit with body & battery grip attached. It fits my 1DsmkII & EF300mm with 1.4 Teleconverter fitted with room to spare. Theres plenty of space around the main compartment for other lenses, batteries, flash gun etc. On the back theres a strap for a monopod, though I use the strap in one of the side slots, with another built in strap on the top side of the bag to carry a large tripod. The Tamron 150-600 does fit attached to my 5Dmk2 but there isn't as much room left over down the sides as I'd hoped. I can barely fit my 24-105 on one side, and can squeeze a Speedlight and an 85mm f/1.8 or Tokina 100mm Macro on the other. No room for my 70-300L. I'll have to choose between the 70-300 or 150-600 depending on where I'm going.
I like to have the 24-105 in case I need something wide and love to have the macro if I'm on a hike. I may get a small sack to keep the Tamrons hood outside of the bag. It adds quite a bit to the width and could clip to a strap outside if needed. Perhaps keep all the hoods in there. Or I could just stop lugging around so much gear ! I like the design which allows access to the gear without having to take off the backpack. Personally I cant see the point of lugging around a 70-300mm and a 150-600mm ? When all your losing with the 150-600mm is the 70-150mm end of the 70-300mm, which can pretty much be covered by the 100mm macro, and just walk backwards or forwards a few feet to compose. Another option of course is get a spare belt and use the supplied 70-300mm lens case, mounted round your waist to take some weight of the back, or attach the lens case to the ouside of the bag on one of the side slots. Ive done a similar thing myself in recent days, where I dont want to carry lots of weight on my shoulders, and have a belt with a an oblong camera bag that holds, filters or my 100mm macro, or flashgun etc, and another older compact camera case to hold spare battery and memory card.
There is limited space for other lenses in the Lowepro bag, but ive space at the end of the cantre section that fits my 17-40mm or/and my 24-105mm lens hoods. Not that I use the 24-105mm much since getting the 17-40mm. Id be more inclined to carry the 100mm macro, 17-40mm, Extension Tubes, 1.4xII TC, and Flash with Onibounce Diffuser (for macro), in the side compartments. TT Holster 30v2 is to tight of a fit for me, camera place I bought this lens had this bag so bought it to try it out. after a few weeks I Decided to take it back just to find out that the camera place has a 7 day return policy and did not say nothing when I Told them I just wanted to try it out. If anyone is interested in the TT Holster 30v2 let me know I will sell it for $65, I paid $80 for it. I have been looking at the TT Street walker pro but not sure yet, I bought the d7100 to use with this lens cause the few months I have had this lens I Was tired of switching lenses all the time and thought it would be eaiser to have two cameras.
