The area is large and I did not want to lug a hand-held sprayer and make many refill trips. The hand pump works well (allows me to control the pressure and product delivery rate) and the wand offers just the right adjustments for spray pattern. The spray wand is metal (not the cheap plastic, waiting to self-destruct at the worst possible time) so I am expecting many years of durability. The backpack design works great (once I got the unit fully loaded and the straps fine tuned) and distributes the weight very nicely. I fill the unit, add chemicals (herbicide in my case) stand it on the open tailgate of my pickup, backup and slip the carry straps on and secure the chest strap before taking the weight onto my shoulders.

I could have paid less for similar products, but the specs and the on-line reviews convinced me to try this product. As an FYI, an earlier on-line reviewer recommended to save extra spray solution to a storage container, rinse, flush, hang upside down to dry to extend the life of the seals. I've been doing this and for the small time investment it seems to be keeping the unit in top performance shape. A little tricky to get on at first (due to my 70+ years) but it took very little planning to figure out a way that was easy and safe. I would highly recommend even for elderly and disabled.
