Glenelg River - 4 day kayaking / camping adventure Glenelg River - 4 day kayaking / camping adventure Tuesday 3 Jan - Fri 6 Jan Leave Melbourne on Monday 2 Jan for 5 hour drive. Also expect to spend Sat 7 Jan driving back to Melbourne. Itinerary (thanks to Simone!): 2 Dec: Drive two cars from Melbourne to Nelson. Meet at Nelson, and leave one car there. Drive other car to Moleside Landing, where we will camp the night. 3 Dec: Paddle 13km and camp at Skipworth Springs 4 Dec: Paddle 14km and camp at Bowds 6 Dec: Paddle 12k to Nelson Landing. Drive to Moleside Landing, where we will camp another night. 7 Dec: Drive back to Melbourne. The accommodation for the four of us has been booked by Tim on 30 Nov and 1 Dec. Nights 1, 2, 3 and 5 are all booked through Parksvic. Adelaide is a worthwhile destination to add to your itinerary. Adelaide is Australia's fifth largest city and the capital of the State of South Australia. Although known as the 'city of churches', as there a lot of churches scattered throughout the city, there is also plenty more to do and see.

There is a constant line up of cultural and music events, sporting events, art exhibitions, theatrical performances and some of the largest festivals in Australia including the Adelaide Fringe Festival, which has over 700 events including cabaret, comedy, circus, dance, film, music, theatre and visual arts. If shopping is on your list of things to do, you might be surprised just how good shopping can be here, particularly for fashion. The main shopping area in the city centre is Rundle Street Pedestrian Mall and adjoining streets. Here you will find hundreds of shops and major department stores selling almost everything you could imagine. If food is your thing, this city has no shortage of excellent cafes, restaurants and quality eating places. One of the best places in town to find some of these is at the eastern end of Rundle Street. Just outside of the city centre are also several other suburbs to find fantastic places to eat. Check out Norwood, North Adelaide, Hyde Park and down on the coast at Glenelg.

This is one of the best fresh food markets in Australia and has so much to choose from. Adelaide has plenty of great beaches to spend some time working on your tan. The coastline stretches from Le Fevre Peninsula in the north to Sellicks Beach in the south. In between are long stretches of wide, golden sandy beaches. The waters here are generally more sheltered because of the Gulf, making them nice places to swim and do other water activities. If you are looking to go surfing, the best places are about an hours drive south around Victor Harbor. There are also plenty of other things to do and see. You could meet some of the local wildlife and other exotic animals at the Adelaide Zoo or one of the other wildlife sanctuaries. Throughout these regions you will find hundreds of wineries and cellar doors to visit. To make life a little easier, you could even take a tour from Adelaide to visit some of the best of these. Although Adelaide is a little further away to get to than other cities on the East Coast, if you take some extra time to visit this great city, you wont be disappointed.
