alps zion backpack review

We all enjoy a good night sleep on the trail. Sleeping on the ground is not the best option for many of us. Some use foam pads while others use inflatable air mats. The Alps Mountaineering Featherlite Air Mat can provide you a good night sleep deep in the back country or at your weekend car camping spot. Their mission statement says that they are all about making high-quality gear at affordable prices. In this review, we’ll scrutinize the ALPS Mountaineering Featherlite pad to see if they achieved that with this product. About their sleeping pads: The three sleeping pad series that the ALPS are best known for in the hiking community are: the Comfort, the Lightweight and the Featherlite. The first two feature a technology called JetStream open-cell foam, which means they are self-inflating pads. The last is a regular air pad with an internal pump. My thoughts on the Featherlite Mat The built in pump takes a little time to get a hang of. Also if the mat did not have the pump built in it could compress down smaller. Overall though I found the mat to be comfortable, and packs up small. Like many other mats in the same category it feels like it could be popped by a small rock, cactus spine, or a really large person plopping down on it after a long hike. I found that if you look after the mat and that it is not laying out rocks or other debris it does quite well.
You might want to inflate it all the way and then let a little bit of the air out before laying down on it. When fully inflated I found that I felt like I was always going to roll off. I deflated it just slightly and did not have any problems after that. Much more comfortable than many self inflating mats and foam pads. , a website that tests and rates air mattresses and pads.  The views and opinions expressed on this blog are purely my own and were not guided in any manor. Brooks-Range Tension 40 Tent Review It’s one of the lightest three-person tents we've used, yet it has two doors and headroom.Had a little trouble finding it in stock except at Camping Gear Outlet. I bought this for Colorado archery Elk. Two different trips, this pack was great. I was able to strap my tree climber to it no problem, took about 2 minutes to strap it on and unstrap it. it easily carried all my gear, with comfort. At one point I packed in 8 miles then back out. The Traverse is comfortable, durable, light, versatile, I can't say enough good things about it. I use these when fishing tournaments to keep my most frequently used tackle right on my hip. Two other brands I've tried have busted zippers or torn seams after just a couple months. I've been using this one for three months now and it's holding up nicely. Light weight, well constructed, plenty of room, an excellent value for a very small price. I purchased the Alps Outdoorz Traverse Pack for the upcoming archery season.
What a great pack! The many pockets allow me to stow my gear with out having to search for what I need or emptying the pack to get that small item that worked its way to the bottom. The bow holder not only secures my bow but protects it, the meat carrier has plenty of straps to secure my load, This thing has more padding on the waist belt and shoulder than any pack I've seen, its fully adjustable so no matter how Big or small you are it will fit comfortably., and it is very comfortable. I do wish the rain fly came in camo or double sided. The price just over $100 was great, about half what others packs of this quality. I will be writing a follow up review after archery season. ALPS Mountaineering Commander Frame Plus Pack Bag Bought this Pack and Frame and used it for a Hike Out Deer Hunt, it holds all the stuff I needed for this week in the north woods. Performed exceedingly well and is somewhat water resistant, but I would suggest placing clothing into zip lock bags to help keep them dry.
This looks like a very good item. I might rate it higher, but I have not had the opportunity to use it. The pack is very high quality construction and is perfect for fast packing using ultra light gear. The adjustments make it very comfortable to wear all day. The torso adjustments could be a bit longer. The pack is great! I went on a 11 mile 2 day hike and the pack held all that I needed plus i had x-tra room. It was very supportive, didn't bother my back, and rode very nice. I would recommend this pack to any hiker...... I bought this pack to use for lightweight 3-season overnight trips. I can comfortably carry 20 lbs with this pack. I can stuff a light 40F sleeping bag, lightweight 2-man tent, small cooking kit, and my clothes inside the main compartment. All the miscellaneous small things, tent poles, and items that you want readily accessible go in the other pockets, with some room to spare. I did find that I can't comfortably carry a 1-liter Nalgene water bottle in a waist belt sling like I do with my other pack.
